Pastel Passion

Tomorrow evening, Thursday December 1st, from 6-8 pm, Gerrie will be starting a pastel demonstration at the rTrail Collective Edge. If you are interested in creating your own art, this will be a great opportunity to learn pastel techniques. Since December is just around the corner, the piece will showcase a snow scene! The VIP opening reception of Capturing the Spirit of Tradition was a huge success! Recently, the Hobarts Arts League presented their 5th Annual Juried Art Exhibit. The show featured a pool of work from nearly 40 artists. Of these fine submissions, Gerrie received 2 awards! A merit award for her piece "Washington Island," and 3rd place for this piece called "After School Practice."

This piece, Friend's Forever, recently received a Purchase Award in the 33rd Elkhart Juried Regional Exhibit. Special thanks to Dr. R. Daron and Michelle Sheline!

Update: Chicago Pastel Painters Show

For this exhibition a total of 81 artists submitted 215 images.  Of these submissions, 89 paintings representing 53 artists from 20 states were selected.  From this fine body of work, Gerrie's piece, "Art Glass" received the "Golden Artist Colors award" for her "outstanding work."

This pastel painting, Afternoon Pleasures, was accepted in the Illiana Artists 13th Regional Juried Exhibition being held at the Chesterton Gallery, in Chesterton, Indiana from  August 27 - September 26, 2011.

These 3 pieces were recently accepted into the Chicago Pastel Painters exhibit! The gallery at Mayslake Peabody Estate (1717 W 31st Street, Oak Brook, IL, 60523) is open to the public M-F 9am-3pm and Saturdays from 9-1. Cost of admission is free. There will also be an opening reception on September 22nd from 7-9 pm.

This painting titled  Round and Round We Go was recently accepted for the 87th Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibition-2011, at the Indiana State Museum. Exhibit open to the public: August 12, 2011.
